ALL ABOUT V.G SIDDHARTHA (Founder).

Born in Karnataka in 1959. Veerappa Gangaiah Siddharth Hegde was an Indian Businessman. The founder of Cafe Coffee Day, acting as the chairman and the managing director. He completed his graduation from St.Aloysious Mangalore University receiving the master’s degree in economics. Joining the J M Financial Limited in 1983 as a management trainee in Portfolio Management and Securities Trading on the Indian Stock Market. He also started his company Sivan Securities.

He established his Coffee Trading company ABC in Karnataka i 1993, the turnover of which was sixty million. He was the first person to set up a cafe in 1996 which is widely famous as the “CAFE COFFEE DAY”.Attracting 50000-60000 visitors a week, Cafe Coffee Day gained momentum and started to spread worldwide, becoming the best and the most famous cafe for youngsters.

Found missing on 28th July, his body was found by three fishermen at Hoige Bazaar beach near the mouth of river Nathravati.

REASON.

The letter that Siddhartha had left behind stated that he was bearing high financial pressure and was under from lenders and harassment. He stated that he was no longer in a position to handle any pressure further and was also unable to build a company he once dreamt of rather he left himself in debts which he was unable to pay.

As of March, the debt stood at Rs 6537.32 cr. and the market capitalization stood at 4372.77 cr.  According to the reports, CCD has already pledged 67 crore loss and the promoters have already pledged 75% of their stakes.

LESSON FOR LIFE.

It’s obvious that everyone needs a life full of luxury and for that one needs a settled business. The same thought V.G Siddhartha had in his mind, he wanted CCD to reach great heights and was also capable to do so. He won many hearts through CCD.

But all went in vain when the company started suffering debts and were unable to pay. The fear of income tax is in everyone’s mind. Siddhartha could not reduce the debts by repaying it rather he preferred quitting his life. I know this is not expected from an owner and the managing director of CCD but we never know how much he might have had suffered and the problems he faced which lead him to this.

Every time in life, we should be ready with a backup because no one knows what life will bring to you the next day. It can be a success and also a failure. We should keep learning and growing.
